Thurrock Landscape Vision

This study proposed a new way of working to effect significant transformation by utilising Thurrock’s unique qualities and proximity to London. Along this stretch of the Thames is an unusual confluence of countryside, industry, towns and villages with valuable fen and marshlands.
Our proposal incorporates: new ways of looking at development; design excellence; valuing the land, social and cultural capital; housing on the river; access to the river; and the ‘quiet heart/dark sky’. This latter proposes de-poldering the fens for productive water catchment, storage and purification, with benefits for wildlife and residents.
